Fresco Secco

Melissa has developed this technique to imitate old, cracked and ageing plaster walls. This allows for various methods of distressing to give a time-worn appearance. She uses water based paints and natural pigments to paint her designs, then the final piece is finished with bees wax for an intriguing, rich patination. Finally the piece is mounted onto a box frame ready to hang or use for lining furniture and walls.

The examples in this slideshow are from her portfolio as Melissa mostly works to commission.
